Meet the apprentice - Kira Phillipou

I joined the Hayes Parsons apprenticeship scheme in 2016 after studying Law in college for two years.  After my time at college, I decided to look at apprenticeship options as I liked the idea of learning whilst working and thought insurance would be an interesting choice.

After my interview at Hayes Parsons, I was invited to the office for a day to learn about the day to day roles of everyone here.  This was really helpful as it allowed me to meet the team and gave me an insight into what I could potentially be doing.  I was then offered the role and started a few months later.

I started in our property department as an Apprentice Account Handler assisting the Account Executive in arranging the insurances for residential properties.  In this role I assisted with the day to day running of our residential property owners scheme which arranges several insurances for residential let and owner occupied properties.  This includes being the main point of contact for our clients, handling renewals, new business, queries and maintaining client relationships.  This role has enabled me to develop my skills in a business environment and learn about property insurance.  I successfully completed my apprenticeship within 12 months alongside my Certificate in Insurance qualification and became a fully fledged Account Handler.

I am now learning about other areas of insurance and will shortly be moving to a different department within Hayes Parsons which will challenge me further and allow me to progress my career.  I am also continuing my studies and am working towards completing the Diploma in Insurance and ultimately the Advanced Diploma.
