On 22 February 2019 The Sunday Times issued the 19th annual edition of The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For. One of the categories that are considered by the survey of 250,000 staff in organisations across the country is Wellbeing: How staff feel about the stress, pressure and the balance between their work and home duties.
The best 100 companies to work for, regardless of size, location, sector or mission, all have one thing in common – ‘an unalloyed commitment to the wellbeing of their staff’.
In the Education Support Partnership 2018 issue of their Teacher Wellbeing Index it is noted that ‘67% of education professionals describe themselves as stressed (80% of senior leaders).’
Schools need to ensure they make adequate provision within their budgets for staff wellbeing; otherwise this could be costing the school in terms of staff absence, reduced productivity and recruitment issues.
