Why Should you Consider an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a unique way to gain hands-on, real-world experience whilst learning as you go. Since joining Hayes Parsons I have managed to gain invaluable experience in the workplace as well as accelerated professional growth through being surrounded by experienced insurance professionals. After attending sixth form there was a big emphasis on going to university, however, an which apprenticeship allows you to work toward professional, applicable qualifications whilst earning in the process is a compelling alternative.
An apprenticeship at Hayes Parsons provides an excellent opportunity to work with and learn from likeminded individuals at all stages of their insurance careers, as well as gain a foothold into the world of work. The continued support provided whilst navigating the balance of working and studying, offers a great platform to grow both personally and professionally, coupled with the opportunities to progress within the firm in the future, as well as building vital relationships with others across the industry.
An apprenticeship allows you to gain qualifications to progress your career while earning money. It’s a great introduction to life after school, integrating you into a new work environment where you gain independence but continue learning. I attended sixth form, sat my A-Levels, and was pushed toward university, despite being unsure of my career path and not needing a degree. This apprenticeship lets me earn a wage full-time students can’t while gaining priceless work experience from experienced employees.
Meet our Past and Present Apprentices
Mateo Dye
Mateo is one of our newest apprentices, having joined us in September 2025, and he’s already making a great impression. At the start of his apprenticeship journey, he’s diving into the world of insurance, building his knowledge and exploring the industry.
Toby Lawton
Toby joined Hayes Parsons alongside Mateo as part of our 2025 apprenticeship programme and has quickly settled into life with the team. Having previously completed work experience with us, he returned with a clear enthusiasm for the business, and began his apprenticeship after finishing college.
Louis Racey
Louis joined Hayes Parsons in September 2024 and has recently completed his Level 3 Insurance Practitioner apprenticeship. Based in the Claims team, he is developing his technical knowledge while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced and client-focused environment.
Callum Macduff
Callum also joined Hayes Parsons in September 2024 and has already completed the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner apprenticeship alongside his Certificate in Insurance. Now supporting our Private Client team, he continues to build on his expertise while taking on new challenges across the business.
Kate Murdoch
Kate joined Hayes Parsons in 2023 as part of the marketing team and has since completed her Level 3 Marketing Assistant apprenticeship. Now progressing through her Level 4 qualification, she is taking on increasing responsibility and continuing to develop her skills within a creative environment.
Sam King
Sam joined Hayes Parsons in September 2023 as an apprentice after graduating from university and has quickly established himself within the business. Having completed his apprenticeship and Certificate in Insurance, he is now a Client Advisor in our Marine team, continuing to grow his expertise and client relationships.
Ethan Maule
Ethan joined Hayes Parsons in 2019 as an apprentice and has gone on to build an impressive career within the business. Now a Client Executive, he has completed his Advanced Diploma in Insurance and plays an active role in the wider industry as a Young Broker Ambassador for BIBA.
Ryan Legge
Ryan began his career at Hayes Parsons as an apprentice in 2012 and has since progressed to Commercial Director. A Chartered Insurance Broker and former Young Broker of the Year, he continues to play a key role in shaping the future of the business.
Sarah Upton
Sarah joined Hayes Parsons in 2016 and has built her career through the apprenticeship pathway, completing her Level 3 Team Leader qualification. Now a Chartered Insurance Broker and Client Advisor Team Leader, she manages a team of nine and continues to lead from the front.
